Nutrition in today’s economic climate is a serious concern for our seniors.  Many times our seniors are not motivated to cook for themselves and now given our economic situation our seniors are looking for ways to cut back on additional expenses.

The Tufts University website “Tufts Food Guide Pyramid for Older Adults”: Online at http://nutrition.tufts.edu/pdf/guidelines.pdf) offers wonderful guidelines on dietary suggestions along with hydration recommendations too.

Family members need to pay close attention to how their kitchen is stocked, consider preparing meals for their loved one and observe how they look and feel.  If time is an issue, consider friends, neighbors or a professional caregiving agency to assist with this basic and essential need.
