Community Outreach

by michellerogers on September 12, 2009

Today is a busy day for my team. We are sponsoring and walking the Alzheimer Memory event in San Jose. We’ll be cheering on the walkers, handing out water and oranges, but more importantly supporting those who are taking their Saturday to support a worthy cause.

Also today is our first Operation Medicine Cabinet outreach event. One of my employee’s spent months organizing and educating our community about disposing of controlled substances (medications) properly.

Yesterday I was sharing information on the event and learned that a friend had just flushed down several expired prescriptions for a family member. Many of you know that this has created a serious issue with our water supply and we need to educate the community.  We need to continue to provide outlets for disposing medications properly and I believe these types of events offer additional exposure on this serious issue. I also learned yesterday there needs to be more awareness on this important topic.

It is an honor to be involved in our community and also presents an opportunity to thank our seniors and local partners for their continued support,
